Storytelling Bouquet

11” x 18” watercolor painting

The idea behind my storytelling bouquet was to paint flora and fauna special to me. Each flower explores the idea of “home” over the years of my life. From the state flowers of New York, Arkansas, Tennessee and Georgia, the national flower of the Philippines, and my partner’s favorite flower. The butterflies are an ode to the Filipino belief that when one lands on you, it is someone you love saying hello to you from beyond: keeping those from the past close to me as I grow into my future. The grasshopper is a symbol of trusting your intuition, listening to your inner knowing and leaping forward.

My goal with this project is to be able to share other people’s stories in a unique way. Flowers and creatures can hold so much meaning, and I would be honored to capture your special moments in a storytelling bouquet. For more details or any inquiries, feel free to contact me.

Birth Month Flowers

6” x 6” watercolor paintings

After painting my storytelling bouquet, I started exploring what other symbolism flowers may hold. I found that there is a different type of flower to represent every month of the year. I painted each of the 12 birth month flowers individually, and all designs will be available as prints and greeting cards.
